ABC World News reports that the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is now about the size of Kansas. Yes, one drop is too much, yet 4,700 average size swimming pools could be filled by the amount of oil that has spilled, according to ABC News. But what was our focus yesterday? More than 600,000 iPhone 4 pre-orders were placed on Tuesday before the systems were overwhelmed and, quite frankly, they ran out of product … not enough.
So, while the worst environmental disaster is taking place, many were critical of Apple and AT&T because their newest gadget could not be ordered. True, if iPhone 4 were not ordered, there is no correlation that the oil spill’s damaging impact on the environment would be lessened. But, the fact of the matter is that our technology for communicating with each other seems to be outpacing our technology to prevent the catastrophe we are witnessing in the Gulf.
Tomorrow’s workers need to have perspective.
